ShareWaves is a 501c3 whose mission is to advance the opportunity for every child to experience the life-enriching "power of sports." We target children deprived of equitable physical activity, exercise, and high-quality sports experiences in under-resourced communities. We continue to work on removing the multi-faceted barriers to sports access and engagement that require innovative, collaborative, cross-sector solutions. We offer "waves of support" to areas of our city considered to be "sports deserts." Thank you for listening to "The Border Showdown for Kids” Podcast.

On Tuesday, May 31st, ShareWaves held a 3-hour “live” radio event – with our partners at Sports Radio 810WHB.
Together we took a deep dive into the adolescent mental health crisis in the US, the impact COVID restrictions have had on our children's well-being, and the positive role physical activity, exercise, and sports can have in HELPING KIDS reconnect, heal, and thrive.
Hear from leading mental health experts as they discuss how structured play, physical activity, and sports can support the social, emotional, and physical well-being of youth.
We cut the radio broadcast up into 3 separate show segments to make listening easier.

Segment 1

This 1st segment is a clear explanation of the entire “Border Showdown for Kids.
Learn about The ShareWaves Foundation and our mission to advance opportunities for all children to experience the life-enriching power of sports.
We also feature an in-depth conversation with Zik Zwanganga and Ebrima “Abraham” Sisay, community activists, and mental health experts.
Both gentlemen were born in Africa and have a unique perspective on the current state of mental wellness in our city.
